Giddyup and Go to the Kendall County Fair and Rodeo
Now in its 115th year, the Kendall County Fair and Rodeo showcases a vibrant rural community where agriculture, horticulture and livestock management are flourishing. Held each year during Labor Day weekend (Sept. 3-5) in nearby Boerne, this century-old event is packed with the sights, sounds and tastes of a traditional country fair, including a parade, fair queen pageant, rodeo, vendors, food, agricultural displays, livestock exhibits, music, carnival rides and more.
The Kendall County Fair started in 1905, when the town decided to organize a community gathering to share ideas, crops, farming and livestock tips, sewing creations, baked goods, fun and games, and more. All these years later, this tradition is still at the forefront of this historic Hill Country fair.
You can sense the nostalgia when the fair kicks off Friday, as exhibitors share their farm-life displays just as their predecessors have done for decades. These exhibitors put their hearts and souls into these exhibits, so take some time to stroll through when you visit the fair. And be sure to check out vendors in The Mercantile in the New Hall, who will be selling tasty food, beautiful jewelry, hand-crafted items and more.
Beyond the exhibit halls, there are plenty of activities to both entertain and educate fair-goers. The Rodeo will take place on all three days of the fair, and the Livestock Show will happen Saturday and Sunday. Plus, check out live music and entertainment all day long on the Pavilion stage, with headliner shows each evening. With fair-favorite food, games and rides, there's something for everyone!
Finally, don't forget the Kendall County Fair Parade on Saturday morning through downtown Boerne. Visitors line the parade route along Main Street from the fire station to River Road to watch numerous spectacular floats. It's a must-see part of the fair festivities!
