Mountain Biking at Flat Rock Ranch
If your idea of the ultimate getaway includes time on two wheels, then you'll want to check out Flat Rock Ranch Mountain Biking Park while you're a guest with us at Hotel Giles. Get out for a heart-pounding adrenaline rush or a leisurely scenic ride. Either way, Flat Rock Ranch offers visitors the full range of biking adventures — from gentle excursions along the single-track loop to Texas-style enduro trails designed for the expert daredevil.
Flat Rock Ranch is family owned and operated by the Dreiss family and has been in their family for more than 100 years. It is part of the original ranch founded by famed architect Alfred Giles, the same man who designed our Hotel Giles as Comfort's first hotel in 1880. To this day, Flat Rock Ranch still raises Black Angus cattle and Angora goats. So not only is this 1,300-acres of rugged terrain home to a mountain biking park, but it's also a working ranch!
There are 29 miles of single-track mountain biking trails, with some double-track, that wind through spectacular Texas Hill Country landscape — including rugged and rocky hill climbs, several creek crossings and long downhill sections all with breathtaking views. For newcomers to Flat Rock Ranch, start out with the scenic and well-marked Green Loop. For those with a bit more thirst for adrenaline, there is a series of nine aggressive enduro lines that comprise the annual two-day Zombie Goat Enduro that are accessible to riders year round.
