Step Back in Time at the Kerrville Renaissance Festival
Huzzah! Bands of knights, medieval royalty, merry makers and minstrels will gather for the fifth annual Kerrville Renaissance Festival in early 2022. Be transported to a time and place far away for two weekends of entertainment, stage shows, live music, shopping, games and food – all inspired by Europe's rebirth after the Middle Ages.
The festival is set for Jan. 28-30 and Feb. 5-6, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. It takes place on the grounds of the River Star Arts and Events Park at Hill Country Youth Event Center in Kerrville. Sprawled over 8 acres, you’ll find festivities and excitement with an extensive cast of costumed characters who will take you back in time. Mystical magicians, comedy jugglers, escape artists, Bedouin dancers, fire eaters, Viking reenactments, a knighting ceremony and carriage rides are just some of the special attractions guests will encounter. Entertainment is offered on seven stages throughout the festival grounds, including the Dublin Harpers, bagpiper David Hazlett, and the music of Coal Black Rose.
Save plenty of time to check out the many merchants who will be on hand selling their wares from armor and swords to wood and leather work, handmade hair garlands, jewelry, trinkets and more. Immerse yourself in the time period with demonstrations on glass blowing and birds of prey.
You're sure to build up a mighty appetite during your visit to the Kerrville Renaissance Festival, and will need to fuel up on fair food favorites like roasted nuts and funnel cakes, wood-fired pizza, kettle corn, chicken and sausage on a stick, plus everyone's favorite giant turkey legs! Guests also can partake in beer, mead and wine.
Embrace the spirit of the festival by coming dressed in apparel befitting the era. Advance tickets can be purchased online and parking is free. Located less than 20 minutes away, Hotel Giles offers the perfect accommodations for your weekend of medieval merriment.
