Wine, Food, Music and More at Singing Water Vineyards
Picture this: Rolling green hills blanketed with Texas live oaks and wildflowers. Rows of grapevines carefully arranged to take advantage of the natural contours of the land. The sound of a spring-fed creek as you sip a glass of exquisitely crafted wine. If you can already feel your stress or tension melting away, then a visit to Singing Water Vineyards is guaranteed to restore your soul. Founded in 1997, Singing Water Vineyards was one of the first wineries in the Texas Hill Country wine-producing region, which has flourished into one of the most popular wine tourism destinations in the country. This scenic winery is located up in the hills just south of Comfort on the banks of Bruins Creek, making it the perfect place to relax and imbibe during your next getaway to Hotel Giles.
Most of the grapes that go into Singing Water's wines are grown right on their property in seven acres of vineyards. Owners Andy and Missy Ivankovich pride themselves on producing a diverse selection of wines that cater to various tastes. Their wines include both red and white varieties, and they often experiment with unique blends. The winery offers tastings that allow visitors to explore and appreciate the different flavor profiles. A few must-try options include their Tempranillo, Viognier and Syrah, each with distinct characteristics that exemplify the terroir of Texas Hill Country.
You can sample Singing Water's wines in their beautifully restored barn that dates back to the 1880s. This space is known as the Freedom Room and is dedicated to local military heroes, with their stories and photos featured on the walls. You can also partake in wine tastings on the outdoor patio that overlooks the 124-acre property. In addition to tastings, the patio allows for open seating to enjoy wine by the glass or bottle and food from their on-site bistro. Additional seating is located in a covered pavilion along the creekside. The bistro menu includes a selection of starters, flatbreads, salads and dessert — all paired perfectly with Singing Water wines.
This vineyard is more than just a place to enjoy great wine. It's also a hub for entertainment and community engagement. In addition to live music every weekend, Singing Water Vineyards regularly hosts events such as special dinners, pottery classes, car shows and even yoga in the vineyard. Coming up on Nov. 10, Singing Water will host Murder at the Mansion, a whodunit experience to be held in the Worth Mansion, known for its 32 white columns that surround the main house. Step back in time to the Great Gatsby era and enjoy wine and tapas as you try to solve the mystery. In line with Singing Water's mission to support veterans' causes, all proceeds from the murder-mystery evening will benefit Kauai Community College's STRIVE program, providing free tuition to veterans aspiring to launch their own businesses.
Singing Water Vineyards is a fantastic destination year-round — for the scenery, wines, food, music and special events. The winery is located just a short drive from Hotel Giles and the charming town of Comfort.
